Merlin Mann's recent Google Tech Talks presentation on email management. At the end of the day its really more of a GTD discussion than anything else, and its loooooong. In a nutshell:
- Don't check email, process email. In other words when you open an email decide in the moment what action you are going to take with it.
- Those actions should be reflected in a personal, canonical list of verbs... delete, delegate, defer, respond, etc.
- Check email less frequently so that you spend more time doing - in Mann's example "if you work in a sandwich shop your focus shouldn't be on taking orders. It should be on making sandwiches."
